About the Water Aerobic Program
General Information
The water aerobics program is overseen by the Aquatics Unit of the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department. All water aerobics classes are designed to be a "move at your own pace" program. This means, if you are unable to do a particular exercise, the instructor will offer a variation of that exercise, or offer a different exercise for you to do at that time.
Instructors
Instructors are certified by nationally recognized water aerobics agencies. The instructors are required to maintain their certification through testing and/or CEU courses. Instructors are assigned specific classes, however from time to time, there may be a "sub" covering a particular class for an instructor.
Facilities
The aquatic facilities are equipped with changing areas and open style showers (not individual stalls). Water depths range from 4-10 feet depending on which facility you attend. Stay where you are comfortable or challenge yourself! All lifeguard staff is certified through the American Red Cross, and on duty while the facilities are open to the public.
How do I pay for classes?
Cash, check or credit cards (Visa or MasterCard) are accepted for payment. You can pay daily admission, or we offer cost savings 15V and 30V passes. The cards are “reloadable”, which means you don’t have to get a new card every time! There is a significant savings when you purchase the pass. There is also a price break for Seniors 62+. Please show proof of age (driver’s license) at the time of purchase.
What does the Daily Admission or Pass cover?
Only the water aerobics classes are covered (a 60 minute class). Participants may not come in early or stay beyond the class time to “warm up” or “cool down”. The fee covers one hour of instruction.
